Bypass Valve

I have the following Mods done to my 88 Turbocoupe. I have a 3in intercooler mounted upfront, boost controller turned down to about 10 psi,3in straight pipe exhaust, and took the knock sensor out. When shifting under full throttle it nose dives in the next gear. I took it to the guy that i bought it from which knows a bit on 2.3l turbos. Well he told us that we needed to convert it to mass air and that if we added a bypass valve it would fix the problem. Is this right? And i was wondering if i just installed the bypass valve i could get around my nose diving problem for now? And also which bypass valve should i get and how to install it?

You don't need to go to mass air (though, it is a nice option and way better for metering), but a bypass valve is needed (personally) on these cars. It'll save the turbo in the long run and won't bog under full throttle...

...so you have a V8...isn't that cute...
