I have never been a big fan of the blue or gold or "hyper white" headlights, mostly because they rank right up there with light up winshield washer squirters and valve caps on the wheels.Well I have had brand new headlight lenses and aftermarket driving lights on the car for a while. The driving lights look just like the stock ones but have a clear lense that has a purplish tint to it which I kind of worried about til I saw them lit up and saw that they dont turn the light purple, just more white somehow.Well, I asked for some of those Sylvania Silverstar bulbs for the headlights for my B-Day last month,(since there was no way I was paying $40 for 2 bulbs)and had read up bit on them and wanted to try them. They worked out very nicely and made a big differnce,so this week I got a bug up my arse and decided to spring for a set for the driving lights.Well, they were $20 a bulb as well, but let me tell ya what the headlights as well as the driving lights, are great! They put out a WHITER light as well as a seemingly brighter light, although they are rated at the same wattage as stock.I'm not sure how they make them different but they do,and they are supposed to have a longer life than regular bulbs as well,so maybe they are worth the $$$.I assumed they were hype like the rest but these things really do make a big difference.Just thought I would share in case anyone else was looking for an upgrade without frying their headlight harness too!

Please Post some P/Ns. I want to upgrade my headlights but don't want to have to rewire to do it and don't want to overtax the circuit any more than it already is.

You only need two tools in life; WD-40 and Duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should use WD-40. If it moves and it shouldn't, use Duct Tape.

ive run sylvania xtravisions in my birds...the 9004XV's are definatly an improvement over stock

are the silverstars just to make the headlights look clearer and brighter for show, or is the light actually brighter on the road? and how does it appear to on-comming drivers...i hate nothing more than those blue, purple, and super-white lights that blind me at night

Pete, the part # is the same as stock just add ST they are 9004 ST and H3 ST for the fogs. The lights do not appear any color axcept white, they do improve the actual light being put out on the road and make it easier (for me anyway) to see. They do appear to me a little brighter but nothing like those !#$% kids who gotta get the 100 watt low beam things.I have not had anyone flash me so far but,my car was pretty low until today.I just put the stock springs and wheels on for winter so now the damn thing looks like a 4X4,Now that I am up at eyelevel we shall see.I just noticed they are rated a little highjer than stock on wattage for the HL's stock is 45/55 (low/high beam)and the ST's are 50/70 the fogs are 55 stock and 68 ST's.These all say MAX. on them but the actual fog bulbs say 55watts on them I haven't looked at the HL bulbs yet.I will check them in the light tomorrow and get back, check them out here. http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm

Hey,
I am using silvania Silverstar in my 88 TC and I noticed a great difference over those Wal-mart brand superwhite bulbs. I didn't want to waste my 40 dollars on lights at the time, but after i installed them in the walmart parking lot, i installed one only.. and compared...... and needless to say the 40 dollar bulbs verses the 18 dollar bulbs were much more precise, whiter, and cleaner looking. So i installed the other one, the got in the bird, and drove off from wally world...satisfied with my new silverstar lights!!!! Everytime i have the lights on, i notice a difference, and i can't help but admire my cleaner, sexier front end reflection in business windows as i drive by during the night!!! So I say everyone of ya should go for them, the look impressive without looking rediculous. Just my 2cents worth.
Dennis Lamb...a.k.a.ThunderChicken P.s. where can i pick me up a set of the H3 ST??? Pete???

Been using Silver Stars for about a year now. IMO, worth the $40 or so they cost. When I got mine, they were running a mail in rebate program, and I got the set for $28 after rebate.

Because I do a lot of night driving I've always wondered if the Sylvania really worked but didn't want to spend $25 for each bulb. I had put the higher wattage bulbs in but had to take them out when the lights started flickering off and on. When I rewired my fog lights I put in 100 watt bulbs and they make a big difference too.

HOW DO THESE BULBS LOOK WITH STOCK FOGLAMPS??? Is it a big difference between the two? Do they have lamps for the foglights?? What about side marker lamps, do they look stupid next to the super bright headlamps?? Can I ask any more questions???
