Broke My New #%$*& Piston

Alright, here is a new one for u guys. Yesterday, as i slowly but surely assemble the bird, i was puttin the pistons in the block, and attaching them to the crank. They where a matched set, small consolation for the hypernuectic pistons, where as i wanted forge. none of them are anywhere, but that is another story. anyways, as the beer was kickin in, i mistakely mis-matched 3 and 4. i turned the block upside down, so gravity was on my side. as i am knocking 3 out of the 4 slot, it goes from stuck to 60 in 1/2 second, slides out ahead of my fast moving hand, lands side first in engine stand, and breaks. worthless. i had to go get another, not matched, but bored to right specs. that moment killed my motivation for the weekend. well, u live, u learn.

Whoa, stop. There was just a post about where you can get forged Federal Mogul (TRW) pistons. Now you know why the hyperucracked it pistons won't work in a turbo. Feel lucky that it happened the way it did. If they had come apart in a running engine you probably would have destroyed the whole engine

on the contrary Pete D, i not saying i know for sure they don't, but the hypernuectics i got came from advanced, on the assurance that they would work. they too said no forged where being produced, but that there where still some around. but, he said, they where so far on back order that i could be waiting 6 months plus on them, if i even got any at all. i was led to believe that the hypernuectics where all that could be found. i wouldn't have goten them otherwise, i can assure u.

Uhhh, I work at Advance Auto and my computer told me (supposedly) that I CAN get the forged...

At Advance there is no such thing as 'Back-Order'. For you or us. I can get you almost ANY part within 24 hours. You sure you didn't go to AutoStoned?

The Advanced I went to I have been going to for about 3 years. I am very well known. The customer rep said they had none on them, and only three in the warehouse of my bore.(where ever that may be) well, three does me no good, and time is of concern. the info i gave u on the time was what he said, as was the exact word "back order" by the sales rep. and turbocruiser88, i didn't go to autostoned till AFTER i had to buy thr hypernuectics [Image: wink.gif]
