My current brakes on the rear are fine but the front brakes the previous owner put new brakes on unturned rotors so the whole system is screwed and the mechanics say that i should replace the the whole system including calipers. So my question is there one place i can go to get all the parts i need that are knowledgable of TC's, and easy to deal with.

WHAT?!? Tell us what's wrong with your brakes and let's go at it from there. It sounds to me like your mechanic has another boat payment due soon...

well the rotors can be speced but are at the point where they quote are "out of federal regulation to ever do again" as least thats what 3 others mechanics told me, and one said they wouldnt even do them. I felt them and there ridged but theres plenty of brake and when i hit the brakes the car pulls and shakes. thats everything in a nutshell at least all that i know of. Lastly they told me they would turn them but i would need new rotors the next time i was ready to do the next brake job. Have no clue, any suggestions. Oh! and im not quite sure what a hard brake feels like i have just a little brake to play with but i dont have to push to hard to get them to work, and when i do i have to ride the pedal as far as it can go. I do know the ABS works cause everytime i hit the ice and snow i feel them pulse so thats a good sign [Image: smile.gif]

OK, well you definitely need new rotors and probably pads. But unless you are having problems with the brakes hanging or if you are leaking brake fluid, you probably don't need new calipers. Ask the mechanic why he thinks those need to be replaced.

Also, are you saying that if you hit the brakes hard the pedal sinks all the way to the floor? If you pump the brakes a few times, does it quit doing that? If so, you have air in the lines and the brakes need to be bled. If not you either have a fluid leak or the brake/ABS unit could be bad. The pedal should be nice and firm, and shouldn't go down more than 1/3 of the way or so unless the ABS kicks in.

O.K. thanks so that brings me back to the origanal question of where i can find both rotors and pad sets for the fronts. ??? I think he threw in the calipers as a quick suggestion cause he didnt hang on that subject to long and didnt bring it back up again im just going to get the pads and rotors.

Any parts store should have pads available. I think good Bendix pads are only $35 or so.

As for the rotors, you might want to make another post asking about them. I remember seeing a link a long time ago for a place that sells cheap but good rotors but I can't remember, maybe someone else can. They are usually quite expensive (like $130 each) because they have an integrated ABS speed sensor ring, but I think you can get new rotors without that ring and have your existing ones pressed in for a lot less money. Good luck!
