brake problem; need rebuilt m/cyl or what?

Brake light is on, and it feels like maybe only the back brakes are working, and it seems to pump up. So i'm guessing the m/cyl needs a rebuild.

Any idea where i might get the new parts? Don't care about the ABS.

Could be some interaction with the booster though; when it first happened, drove about 50 miles and by the time i got there, the brake light went out, and the brakes pretty much seemed to work. Haven't tried it again since it's pretty scary.

Sounds like the same problem I had earlier this summer. Did you pull the ABS codes? I had none. It was my master cylinder. A rebuilt one cost me $800 plus labor. I was stranded 650 miles from home. I hope you have better luck than me [Image: frown.gif]

I assume you mean you have a really hard pedal, and really have to stand on it to get it to stop at all. If that is the case, the most likely cause is a bad hyd. pump relay.... VERY common problem. See the FAQ page for info on testing the pump relay.
