Brake parts interchangeability

I cannot find it, and I could have sworn there is a thread somewhere detailing what brake parts are interchangeable on these cars.

My '88 needs new rotors, brake pads, wheel bearings and control arm bushings badly. The bushings are sloppy, the wheel bearings when I re-installed them 4,000 miles ago were definitely not in the best shape, and the rotors and pads are grooved so badly I can hardly get the caliper removed.

I want to run some EBC Yellowstuff pads and possibly even some of their premium rotors, and while they make parts for Mustangs up to 2004, they do not service Thunderbirds earlier than the 90s.

What (if any) other Ford brake parts interchange with what we have stock? What can be made to work with some fidgeting?

And let's say I get bigger calipers on there, can a larger master cylinder be installed on the factory electro-hydraulic booster or do I need to convert to a new booster?

I have heard any Mustang front brake parts up to 2004 can be modified to fit with relative ease, but I haven't seen any definitive information.

the best often is to get 94-95 mustang spindles and bearing/hub. then you can get v6/gt rotors for 94-04 mustangs. and either use single piston calipers from the 94-01 mustangs. or get twin piston calipers from a 02-04 v6/gt. that 12in rotors.
you can also get rotors and calipers from any 94-98 cobra and that will give you 13in brakes with twin pistons.
this will convert you to 5 lug also

if you keep the stock spindles you can get a mark vii caliper and rotors and that will also 5 lug that way too. you can use the mark vii front calipers with your rotors, the caliper piston is a bit bigger then a stock TC caliper.
or use a 87-93 gt rotors that wont have a eccentric ring for the ABS to keep 4 lug.

for the rear the calipers are the same as the mid 90's taurus. most of use just convert to 94-04 mustang rear calipers and axles and rotors.

the ectroboost is either keep it whole or convert to a vacuum assist system agian using a tbird/mustang brake booster and a SVO master cylinder, or use a 94-04 booster and master cylinder.

you will also need to go to manual proportioning valve to get the brake bias adjusted correctly.

i have 96 stang spindles rotors and calipers int he front and the rear axle housing with 98 stang axle calipers and rotors on mine with the stock electroboost master cylinder the brakes are ok but i need to get a proportioning to get the bias equal it now goes a lil but too much to the front. and the pedal feel isnt perfect.

Ahh, forgot about that.... I like the snowflake wheels, but it looks like I'll lose those if I do any sort of improvements, huh....

According to Summit THESE PADS will work with the factory brakes :dunno:

They also show THESE ROTORS as a direct fit as well. I know the photo shows a 5-lug rotor - hopefully that's not actually the case.

I guess I've got some exploring to do. For the money I'm getting into 5 lug conversion territory.

that year range encompasses 2 different housing lengths and 2 different axle lengths. the '99-'04 stuff will require a '99-'04 housing and will increase the track width on the rear.

im using 94-98 axles calipers and rotors, and using spacers between axle housing and caliper bridge in a 88 TC axle housing.

Looking at Mark VII calipers...look like a direct swap, go from 60mm piston to 73mm piston, and they're $24/each from rockauto including core charge.

Should I do it and just mess with the proportioning valve? Or keep the stock calipers and not mess with it?
