I am planning on putting the TC Engine in my 1961 Ranchero, This TC is a 5 speed and I would like to put a Auto (A4LD out of a 1988 TC) in the Ranchero. Is the computer the same Auto/ 5 Speed?
Any input would be great!
I did not see this topic but if it has already been covered please show mw the way.
Thanks
John

They are not the same. The auto pcm can be used in the 5-speed, but not the other way around.

you need a auto computer (lb3 and 8cu) for the the A4LD's torque converter lock up and overdrive solenoids.

back in 1998 i met a guy out on Breckenridge colorado that swaped in a 2.3t into his 63 SPrint Conv. he didnt make it to the FCA's meet with the car, due to a blown turbo seal. but i was fascinated with the swap and wanted to do it since.
my first 10years of my life my mom daily drove a 63 2dr falcon wagon and that is all i knew. my dad had his sprint in the garage and finished it in 2004. so i grew up with Falcons and rancheros.
please post pictures of your progress! this is one i have always wanted to do!
