boost went high and power went low. 88 tc

took off from intersection and goosed it a little. boost went up to about 14 and it was pulling good then it fell on its face and the boost shot up past 18 and the buzzer went off. now the boost will shoot up to full boost before 2000 rpm and i had to turn down the mbc to keep it at about 15 but its like theres no turbo on it at all. i can hear it spool up but nothing. it drives fine until you start getting boost and it hesitates some. no spark knock, idles good. im going to replace the hose between the vam and inlet but i dont know what else it could be.please help. thanks steve.

The only way it can overboost is if 1. the boost signal isn't getting to the WGA (leak, bad hose??), 2. The WGA is bad and can't respond by opening the WG, or 3. the WG is stuck shut. Sounds like the WGA may not be opening the WG. Apply 10 psi pressure to the port on the WGA. The rod should just barely extend a few thousanths of an inch. If it doesn't move at all, try a couple more psi. If it doesn't move, I would guess the WGA if bad.

just got back inside from looking at the car. thanks for the quick response pete. the wire inside the vam to inlet hose has poked itself through the hose and looked like its half bent looking through the hose, also i have a LOT of play side to side on the shaft and it looks like it may be bent. it wobbles when spinniing. i had thought i may have heard some turbo squeal when i pulled up to the house. i had the gillis at 18 before this happened. could it have spiked and ate the turbo? i have a t3 waiting to go on but didnt want to do it today! also, here's something wierd. i had what i thought was a wrist pin knock, since this happened its gone! this car's wiggin me out! ive been good to her, trying to do the steve austin thing on it, but its fighting me the whole way. im thinking of a compression test just because too. just put a NEW head on it three weeks ago.if it keeps actin up like this i guess ill just install the perfect running spare motor in it.was tryin to save that for later though.
