I have been having this bogging issue. When I rev it and hold the rev above 4500 rpm. The car bogs and revs in a up and and down rpm surge. Its as if timing is being retarded. This even happens when I disconnect knock sensor. It reminds me of what my 2004 Mustang does when the car is parked and you rev it to high.
I installed a kirban adj fuel pressure set at 40 with vaccum line hooked up, walbro 255lph pump, and cleaned and flowed brown tops- the car still does it. I did notice that when I am holding the rev at 4500rpm the fuel pressure gauge jumps to 51 and surges up and down from 43 to 51. What could be causing this?
I did replace on HLA because it would tick real loud and eventual fill. Could collapsing HLA's cause this.

Base fuel pressure should be set with the vacuum UNHOOKED. I don't know if that was a typo or not, so I'm just saying.

Yeh sometimes I set it with line off and then turn it up until I can hear the cars sweet spot. Crewed but effective
Fixed!! Stinkin Fuel filter. It's funny how you look at the big$$ issues first before the easy cheesey stuff. LOL!! Fuel filter $11.95 at Autozoo. Problem solved.

been there before myself with a bad fuel filter and tank. Pulled the filter and saw how obvious the problem I had been chasing for months had been.
