I have a 1985 thunderbird turbo coupe, 90k miles. Whenever I drive it, whether it’s hot or cold, usually gets better the more I drive it and isn’t effected by heat it doesn’t seem, it hesitates to the point where it slows down when I give it relatively any throttle at all below 3k rpm. It clears up a little bit when it builds into boost like a jerk and kick at 3k rpm. but still feels terrible. the exhaust gets loud and vibrated and bucks when this happens too. Sometimes it’ll pop and misfire a little bit when doing it. It sometimes pulls good, sometimes not at all. Almost like the AFRs are all over the place or something isn’t working electronically. I THINK it has something to do with the alternator or VAM, as my battery has a hard time charging, but does nonetheless. Also smokes on start up and when you blip the throttle, which it has always done. Smells like fuel but is blue like oil. Also has to do some wiring to get my taillights working. There’s definitely some electrical gremlins, I just don’t know if it would affect anything like that. It has a manual boost controlller set to 16 psi, Walboro 255lph, Kirban FPR set at 55 with vacuum line unplugged, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, and cone filter. It’s been having this issue ever since it was bone stock when I got it about 2 months ago and seems to be getting worse. I’m completely stumped

Have you pulled the plugs and looked at them? If not, I would do that and see if it looks like it's running rich. I have a feeling it might be because your fuel pressure is a bit high. I believe it should be around 38# with the line disconnected.

Your base fuel pressure is WAY WAY too high!! Try 38 to 42 psi as a start!
The high fuel pressure is likely causing incomplete fuel burn / flooding which causes the odors, smoke, etc.

Your fuel pressure is WAY WAY TOO HIGH!!! Try base fuel pressure at 35 to 42 psi. I believe you are dumping so much excess fuel into the engine that the engine is running VERY VERY rich leading to the nasty smells, poor idle, rough running, stalling etc not to mention washing the oil film off the cyls and rings plus getting some raw fuel into the crankcase.
