Best sounding exhaust for a 2.3???

Seems like they are kinda bland sounding to me unless the engine is built with a crazy cam. Haven't heard too many in person.

I wouldn't say bland. They have a deeper sound than most 4 cyl in my opinion. Open exhaust they sound like a tractor. I like the sound of the ATR mufflers but I think they are out of business. I don't think you could go wrong with magnaflows or dynomax just make sure its a free flowing muffler for a turbo car, not baffled. The exhaust has a unique sound between the engine and turbo and with aftermarket mufflers and larger exhaust pipes.

Ive only heard them in person with Flowmasters...Yeah they dont have a unique sound like a WRX or Sr4..glad they dont sound like a honda thou lol.

flow-masters sound bad on a TC IMO.
i prefer dynomax ultra-flo on my TC. which i have. I've had all kinda of set ups from straight to glasspacks, to turbo muffs tried a flow master and then swapped to complete 3in with a ultraflo and you can hear the turbo spool out the exhaust.

I also run the dynomax ultraflow
Sounds great, much better than the glass pack it had
The glasspack actually didn't sound that bad, but man was it loud
It let out right at the rear axle so it was loud inside the car and it was always setting off car alarms

I doubt it. I know me and Brian have different setups, I think turbobike is running a 3 inch, but I don't know what muffler he is using. I think Pete is also running a different kind of system so It'll pretty much cover the spectrum. I don't know off hand what others are running.

Anybody ever try Spin Tech mufflers on a TC ?

I am curious as I have a friend who has them on his 331 EFI Stroker Four Eye and they sound just terrific.

I have all 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with a Hooker Maxflo dumped at the rear axle. It sounds pretty good to me.
88 TC#1 2.9L tall deck. Essy SVO head, Boport header, BW SX369 turbo, C4 trans, MS2xtra
88 TC#2 drag car project(someday)
88 TC#3 parts car (just needed the header panel...bought the whole car, lol)
