This is probably a stupid question butI'll ask it anyway. I am currently running a Gillis Valve. The stock BCS is (was) still in the car and the electrical connection was hooked up to it. I guess my question is can I leave the BCS hooked up (electrically) and not create a problem and/or can I just eliminate it altogether and leave the electrical connection hanging loose?

You can leave it hooked up with no ill effects. If you remove it, or remove the electrical connector, you will get a KOEO code 81, which means a BCS problem. If you dont want to see the code, but still want to remove the BCS, put a 100 ohm 1 Watt resistor across the terminals of the electrical connector to fool the EEC into thinking the BCS is still there.

Jeff - a question about this. I unplugged mine and get no indication of any problem. Is it supposed to flash the check engine light to notify you or what?

TIA.

A disconnected BCS will not light up the CEL.. the CEL only lights for emission related problems. If you run the KOEO codes, you will get a code 81 instead of a code 11 (system pass). No harm to get the code 81, but I personally like to see the code 11 when I run the codes!

10-4, thanks; I think I'll use your resistor fix to eliminate the potential error code.

Hey Jeff, since you bring that up. I'm wondering if my CEL would be lit. My CEL bulb has been burned out for AWHILE and my lazy ass never felt like fixing it. When I run the codes with my test light setup, I get the Insufficient EGR code and the KS code, would my CEL be lit if it worked?

The KS disconnected / not working will definately not turn on the CEL. I doubt that the EGR flow code (I am guessing a 34 during KOER) would set a code either, as the EEC has no way to measure EGR flow during normal running anyway.
