Part No. BXT 65 850. It's about the same size as the original for an automatic which I believe is a little larger physically
than the one for a 5 speed.

I have been using group 65N batteries in both my 88 TC and 86 Tbird 5.0 for years. I use Wally World Everstart MAXX 65N 1000 CCA batteries. Usually get 5 to 7 years out of them. Just replaced the batt in my 86 for $95.

I'm using a battery for a honda cr-v or honda odyssey (can't recall which one at the moment) in my TC.

I didn't try that hard to find a group 56. I did try to fit a 26R per suggestion of the battery shop but abandoned that idea because my pristine OE hold down would have to be modified to fit.
Ended up going with a group 55. It's about 1.5 inches narrower than the 56 so I have more room at the end of the radiator now. Only gave up 50 amps, had 590 cca on the wally world 56 and now 540 cca on a Duracell Ultra 55.
Looking at my battery tray I don't see how I could fit anything wider than the 56 like the 65N. 26R is too wide.
I don't really know why I would need a bigger battery since it just starts and runs the ignition and radio. I dont have any power options and my big stereo is years since removed...
Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, Bright Canyon Red TuTone, Desert Tan Interior; 1 of 7 in this combo in 1984 according to Marti. 1 of 13,361 TCs in 84.
Rebuilt, 3-Angle Valve Job, SYB37 "OE/Small" Slider Cam
Full 3" Stinger Exhaust to Flowmaster 40, Gnari FMIC/Recirc/BPV, MBC @ 18psi, RF-E6 Manifold, Remote-Mount TFI, PC1 and Flowed 35# Injectors, Inline Walboro 255HP, Kirban AFPR
Rebuilt Suspension -- KYB & Energy Suspension

I just swapped an Optima Yellowtop into mine. It comes with adaptors to help it anchor to our factory battery tray.
