ball joint wear indicator check

I have searched and read on this and I would just like to verify a few things.

I assume from what I have read that wear indicators are the 3/8" to 1/2" round projection that sticks out of the bottom of the ball joint and if it sticks out (down from the flat bottom part of the ball joint) 1mm or more then they are o.k. Is this correct? Additionally, as the ball joints wear, this projection starts to receed up into the hole at the bottom of the ball joint. Is this correct?

I am still getting cupping on the insides of my tires (and the noise seems to be getting worse) and if my assumptions are correct, then the only things I can think of that would cause this are negative camber or wheel bearings. Can negative camber be adjusted out on stock strut mounts?

I will try to check this out tonite.

Thanks for any input.

You are correct on reading the Ball joint indicator.

Thanks Pete. I believe I answered my own question on camber adjustment. The camber is adjusted at the bottom of the struts where they connect to the steering knuckle, right?

Camber (very limited adjustment) is adjusted at the top of the strut.

So there's no adjustment at the steering knuckle? Are caster/camber plates worth the money for everyday driving with some future solo II rallying?

I'm gonna bring it back to alignment place with specs. in hand and see if that's what they were going by. This tire wear issue is getting annoying. I guess I'll check the bearings. It seems that the ball joints are o.k.
