Hello,
I have a 1988 T-bird turbo coupe. It is automatic with 94000 miles. It had some oil leaks which are all fixed. However, it is idling rough. I have taken off the IAC(Idle Air Control) Valve and used PB Blaster to clean it out. It helped a little, but it still idles rough. Any Suggestions would be greatly appretiated. Thank You.

no. I will give it a try, and let you know. Also, while i was driving today, as I almost came to a stop, it went down to about 400 RPM's, like it wanted to stall, and then back up to 1100. It didnt happen again after that. I'm not sure if that is a problem or not or if it has anything to do with the idling problem.

Humm check the tps first but that sounds like what my car was doing when i got it and it had a massive vaccum leak from a hose under the intercooler. Make sure you dont have any vaccum leaks too.

+1 on Vaccum leaks. Just what I was thinking and it could cause the stumble he is describing when the vaccum drops of suddenly.

How do I know if I have a vacuum leak and how can I check to see if I do. I know how to do some stuff, but I'm only 17, so I don't know as much as you guys.

do a search on "vacuum leaks" you should find plenty of info.

See this for making a pressure device for finding leaks: http://natomessageboard.com/uploads/0000...Needed.JPG

The device on the picture...(http://natomessageboard.com/uploads/0000...Needed.JPG) What is that?
Does it help find vacuum leaks? Do I have to make it or can I buy it somewhere?

You make the device, It lets you pressurize the intake system to look for leaks. You can either mount it to the front of the turbo or to the throttle body. You need a regulated air supply and you want to set it in the 15 to 23psi range ( 50 psi is too much Big Grin )

You will have to make the device. It isn't hard or expensive. You can get all the parts in the plumbing supply department of a big box store
