Hello. My accumulator has went bad after my turbocoupe having to sit for a couple of months. Does anyone know if it will hurt to drive the car until I can replace it? It still stops fine but I am concerned about burning up the motor from it clicking on and off every time that I need to stop. Thanks........KP

I wouldnt drive it much. I think you are more likely to burn up the relay than the motor.

my 88 has been clicking the pump on every stop for years. it hasnt hurt mine , yet. but i plan on converting to vacuum assist. so i wasnt concerned about it.
i would go too long with it, as it will reduc the life of the pump.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. It isn't my main car so i can do without driving it very much at all. Am I correct that there is no way to refurbish the accumulator? Also what other vehicles do they come on besides the super coupes that might interchange? Thanks.........KP

I also found this one on ebay and it says it fits most common ABS systems including ford thunderbird. What do you all think?.......KP

I would give it a try. Looks like the NOS unit I bought from the Ford dealer a couple of years ago, and its cheaper than what I spent.

I want to keep the abs system on my car as long as its working, if it fails I'll look at using a hydro boost system from a late model mustang and a 7.3l diesel power steering pump

The same ABS system is used on the Mark VII. I've stolen the pressure switch off one before.

There are a few GM cars from that era that also used the Teves II ABS system. The late 80s Pontiac 6000 STE comes to mind.

I need one too... The eBay one doesn't look like it has the allen head fitting on the top. I think it would be quite a pain to install the accumulator ball trying to get a wrench on the fitting above the nipple Wink (that's what she said!)
