Can anyone tell me their backspacing on ANY aftermarket wheels for a 88 turbocoupe?
What tire sizes are you using? i would like to put the 99 cobra wheels that have a 5.72" backspacing, will they fit? I have done the calcs, the outside of the wheel will be nearly exactly as the stock wheels, however, they will stick in the wheelwells further. I am confident that the rear will not be a problem. Any input would be appreciated.

SN-95 wheels will fit the TBirds no probs. The inboard increase won't hurt anything. I've got 225/55-16's on one car w/ the 16-7.5" waffle stars and one with 245/45-17's on 17x8" 95 Cobra wheels. No problems what so ever. The rears are a gimmie, and on the fronts iof you just swap to 5-lug rotors you might lose a little track, but since yours is an 88, the height is the same as the Lincoln/SVO rotor. You could also swap tp the 94+ front brakes to get the 5 lug as well (like I did on both cars (83&84).

You would have to do a total 5 lug conversion to use the newer Stang wheels.
87 Turbo Coupe, 5-speed, boost at 18 PSI, K&N in finder, tangerine paint, shaved door handles, locks and emblems, painted interior trim(same as exterior), tiger print headliner, visors and door panels, Autometer gauges, 5.6" monitor & Playstation 2, lowered, white pony wheels...did I forget anything?

Yes i know this, i have done this twice before on the same year & model. But all of this was done 10 years ago with ronial r9 which has a 4-7/8" backspacing. on one car the rears rubbed on the fender lip, with 255-50-16's.I know the limits outboard, but do NOT know how far in the wheelwells I can go. I am trying to make a decision on wheels, going 5 lug is a given for me. PS, I used Mustang front lower control arms up front, yes, it can be done if you know what to do. back then, you could get "police" lower control arms which had high durameter bushings; I drove that car at Laguna Seca open track events with the Nor Cal shelby club, and the streets of willow, where the driving instructor was so impressed with it's handling, he dais he wanted one just like it. Damn, I wish I'd never sold that car! I will try to get some digital photos of running at Luguna sent to this site.
