Ok guys. my 86 has keyless entry and I looked on both trunk hinges and there is no code. I read also in the faq section that its on the black box behind the back seats. What is the easiest way to remove the upper part of the back seat? I tried yanking on it, but this car is so clean I dont want to damage anything. All help is appreciated.

Pull the bottom cushion out and you will see two Torx head bolts securing the seatbelts at either end of the seat back bottom. Remove those, and lift up on the back to remove it. Those two torx bolts (t-50 or 55?) are a royal PITA to get out sometimes. PB blaster is your friend, and refrain from using the smoke wrench in that area. too many things that easily catch on fire.

What Spooler said, and you should also be able to get to the black box through the trunk. You have to pull the big center trim panel out and you'll have access to the component mounting "trays". Depending on your options, there will be either one or two trays. I am pretty sure the keyless entry box is on the right side. Undo the latch and pivot the tray towards the rear. You should be able to read the numbers very easily. Did I mention that to do this, you either have to be 11 feet tall or else lay inside your trunk? lol.

BTW, this is for an 87/88 bird. I "assume" the 4-eyes are the same. Good luck.
