My oil pump went out, and I found metal shreds all through the motor and dizzy, so I decided to drop in a freshened up block with new pump that I had already stored for the next time I blew something up. LOL! Well I installed it and I just couldnt get the darn auto trans to slide into place, and the darn stall converter bolts just wouldnt go through the flex plate. Well...I backed the trans out three times trying to figure out why I could get it aligned right!! Finally a buddy who has many autos came over to help me out. We pulled the trans back, and he looked at it and says, "F*ckstick, there is a pilot bearing in the crank!! Autos dont have pilot bearings!!" DOOOOOH!!!
Well, since all my cars are 5 speed and the block I had freshened up was out of a 5 speed, I never thought to look in the crank for the darn pilot bearing. Popped the pilot bearing out, and trans slid into place with ease. LIVE AND LEARN!!
