there's a noticeable raised hump in the trunk floor sheetmetal that provides clearance for the lines/fittings into the tank. cut the hump out and it's all right there

Welcome. We don't do a whole lot of hating here. While I am not a Chevy guy, I do own one at the moment, but I'm in the process of selling it ('50 Styleline) so I won't soon...
Matt F does Lemons as well. He comes on here from time to time. He had the "Ricky Bobby Laughing Clown Malt Liquor" '87 or '88 TC if I remember correctly, but I think it burned up. It's in one of our old calendars.

I'm not a hater either, just looking to gain info about these cars, and choose an interesting headline to get attention and dialog started. Whats the lightest anybody has gotten a 'Bird down to?

There are a couple of threads on here documenting the lightening of these cars. Try searching because I don't remember who it was that was posting about it.

I'm in the middle of lightening mine. First things first, the tar sound deadening mat that's on the floor pans and trunk.. then there are cast iron weights bolted to the trans and trans crossmember, toss them. Not totqlly sure if your car has them, but my 87's do and I saw no different without them. Someone told me they were to help with vibration, but who knows. Ditch the entire body harness and just wire up headlights and tail lights (brake lights, too, if they're mandatory in the rules. That'll take out a good amount of weight. There's a large piece of metal on the backside of the door skins, cut that out to shave some weight from the doors. There are some other areas you can drop weight, as well, which I'm sure you'll find on your own. You're probably going to want to upgrade to an 87-88 ecu, vam and injectors, if you're going to throw a front mount and more boost at it
87 TC: 5spd, started B234F head swap (overall setup changing), Quarterhorse, T3/T4 63 a/r, 3" exhaust, walbro 255, tubular front clip, 5 lug swap, 17x8 front/17x9 rear cobra r's, wilwood 4 piston calipers (rear only, for now), lightened 471lbs so far
