ARE 3.73's RIGHT FOR ME?

Jeff G is running 4.11 in his 86. From comments he's made they sound like they buzz the engine too much for sustained highway cruise. The 3.73 in the SVO aren't bad, it does turn more rpms at cruise than the TCs
Comes out of the hole quicker too.

Dan,
Cool, i like the 3.90 idea if i did that i would look into changing 5th gear for highway driving(if needed{edit}). And i don't know if it's just my car but hate 5th gear with the 3.55's. The car seems unhappy around 70 in 5th gear (around 2300rpm i think) the car grumbles and i always find myself using 4th gear instead...

what would you guys think of this idea??

im wanting to switch to a V8 T5 and get that Hanlon Motorsports .52 5th gear deal then slap some 4.30's in the rear end..

Friend has a 5 liter with this setup and i love driving that car 1-4th is killer in town and 5th gear actually ends up being lower than a stock 5th with 3.73's i think

Gimme Opinions NOW DAMMIT lol j/k

How hard is it to swap out the 5th gear? I've got a '87 Mustang tranny in mine, with the .85 fifth instead of the .81 or .79. I would rather have the .81 or .79 or even a .73, so the engine wouldn't rev so high on these flat, open highways.

If swapping the fifth gear is easy, (both on labor and on the wallet,) I just might do that swap soon instead of trying to scrape together the $200 for the 88TC T-5 down the street and waiting until it is time for a new clutch to do a swap.
