Arcing in REALLY odd places

I was tinkering on the car last night when I seen something really odd. While the motor was running I noticed some arcing going on. But it was not in the same places that you might think. Where I seen the arcs were off of two pulleys of the serp belt and the pivot bolt on the alt bracket. With the motor running I had two (2) arcs from the pivot bolt on the alt to the belt itself. Then there is one that went from the outer edge of the alt pulley to the outer edge of the belt. And then there was another one that really puzzled me, it came from the plastic idler pulley outer lip that went to the outer edge of the belt, WTF???

The only thing that I can think of is that this is just static discharge from the belt caused by the plastic pulley. It just seems really odd that when the motor is running they are just bearly visible, but when you bring the revs up they get bright and the two from the bolt to the belt, kinda dance around a bit.

Is this something that I need to be worried about???

Jim, was the humidity was fairly low? I think you nailed it.... static discharge. Nothing to worry about.

It's FrankenCoupe! Big Grin

I agree with Jeff, it's got to be static related.
