Curious to know if anyone who owns an 88 TC has ever come across a copy of the Vehicle "Build Sheet" while working on / restoring their TC ?

Is that the tag that shows all the options for that particular vehicle similar to what GM calls an RPO list? Where's it supposed to be on these?

I've got the original window sticker/paper but I don't think that's what you're talking about... ?

I usually found them on my fox mustangs under the back seat carpet. On my 88 tbird, I changed the interior out recently, and found nothing under the carpet or panels. There's no way anyone had done this to my bird, so I guess Ford didn't put the build sheet in these cars.

1986 dodge omni glh turbo, 111k, my money pit.

As the Original owner I have all the Original Dealer / Factory Issued Paperwork , Including Window sticker

Unfamiliar with GM Terminology as it regards Paperwork( But not the RPO specific nomenclature ) .

Ford used to have several copies of the vehicle "Build Sheet" ( printed Production line documents indicating the "Equipment and Options" scheduled to be included on the vehicle ) which were actual Paper sheets , normally as many as 4 copies , that were attached to the individual vehicle which acted as "instructions and checks for the line workers so that they knew what items were to be "built" into each vehicle that came down the line.

Upon installation of the various items of standard and optional equipment , at predetermined Quality Check stations on the production line, the sheets were either attached to certain components - under seats for example, or tossed randomly into a semi completed interior under the carpet , or discarded by the various Assembly or QC line workers.

to Boboli's point :

I found the Build Sheet for my 1986 SVO under the Drivers side carpet when installing my Competition Harness anchors.

Having never had any reason to disassemble any part of my 1988 TC interior I was just wondering if any other NATO members had ever found a build sheet on a TC

The Build Sheet is another Nice to Have piece of Original paperwork that is worth having.

For example When cleaning the interior on my 2010 Ford Edge I found a piece of the "Build Sheet" sticking out from behind the lower corner of the interior Hatch Trim. I removed the panel and found the complete Build Sheet. At least up until 2010 Ford was still using the Build Sheet

Thanks very much gentlemen for your input.

Wow EJ haha... thanks for the long explanation. That is in fact what I was referring to when I compared to GM's RPO list... "Regular Production Option" I think is what that stands for, just has a bunch of three digit codes in place of long name options.

Anyhow, good luck to you sir. I know very little about these cars or where the paper might have been stashed normally.

87-88 it was underneath the PS Seat bottom, stuffed under the springs, by all accounts I have read. If not there, it may have been underneath the Interior or Trunk carpet as well. Some people have even reported finding it on top of the Gas Tank. I've had my entire TC apart before, and have not found mine. I believe that they where left out of some cars for whatever reason. Maybe the line worker at the end of the assembly line just collected and threw all the build sheets in the trash that day, who knows. This is the only car I own, that I couldn't find the build sheet for. All my others where found somewhere inside the interior. They can be in some strange places sometimes though. The build sheet for my 93 Lightning, I actually found behind the speedo cluster, lol. I've found them stuffed on top of the HVAC plenum in other 80's Ford's as well.

Makes me wonder how safe that is to stuff them wherever like that....

I've never found one, but I've also never taken the interior apart in any of my cars. You can get Ford to send you a copy of it, though.

I have never seen one from a Fox Thunderbird. I have only ever seen one from a Fox Cougar, a 1986 XR7.

I've never found one in a TC but did find one in a '87 Sport, was behind the rear driver side panel, just below the window...

I have a feeling most were tossed as already mentioned, but was fairly common to find them in the '60 & 70s stuff... I have the one for my '69 Fairlane Cobra, was in the upper portion of seat back...

Back in the '60s/'70s, where you'd find them was largely dependent on the assembly plant... For Lorain cars(Torino/Cyclone)they were usually under the carpet(Lorain is also were the aero Birds were built)... Atlanta cars like mine had them in the rear seat bottom and/or back, while Kansas City cars had them in the front seat bottom(usually cut into pieces by the time we were looking for them)...
