this morning I swapped out the distributor from my 88 t/c that runs fine. still no spark. At this point I believe I have covered the whole ignition system. The computer seems to be working fine. power at the vam and tps injectors are firing and fuel pump is working. At this point im just not sure where to go from here. I just cant help but think I somehow damaged a part of the computer that must work with the ignition somehow. I think I will pick up a used computer and see what happens, so if any of you have a computer for an 86 t/c 5 speed let me know what you want for it. thanks Andy

After thinking a little more I am gonna ohms test all the wiring going to the tfi and see what that shows. Maybe there is a fusable link in one that got damaged or some other break in the wiring. At this point that's all I can think of

And it gets stranger yet!!.......today I decide I will check for spark with the spout out and then with the ecm not wire in. So I pull the spout and put my test lite from the coil neg. To ground and bump it over at the solenoid.....I got spark ! Ok I put the plug wire back on rough set the timing cause the dist. Had been out. Crank it and it starts. Then I remove the test lite and it stalls......wtf.....crank it and no spark......re3connect the test lite from coil neg. To ground and I get spark again ......pull the lite again and it stays running.....plug in the spout .....timing advances likne it should and still running.......shut the car off and start with key....starts right up no problem.......so anyways...not5 sure where the problem was but it appears to be gone.
One last thing....when I was checking continuity on the wires the other day I had nothing from the coil neg. Thru a brown rubber part that had zig zag lines on it ( was a few inches off the coil the neg. Wire runs thru it) so I cut it out and cut it open. It was a barrel shaped peice looks like a small battery. And just wired straight thru. What w2as this peice and do I need it in there? My guess is that it is some kind of capacitor or resistor..thanks. andy
