Maybe some of you have already seen this one. I happened to be bored waiting while my car was being inspected and since I've never really looked into this I figured it was worth a few minutes of a online search. Figured I'd pass this along if anyone on here cared to take a look. This guy must have a lot of spare time lol, but hey definitely nice to have someone get some real world resuts and it only cost me a quick read. In short the tester found purolater pure one filters almost as good as royal purple and amsoil. The purolator has a thinner wall metal housing than most but really unless I was racing in a high level event I wouldn't worry about that, unless I saw issues first hand. Besides it doesn't have any effect on the filtering. The royal purple and amsoil were the best, but more expensive. The tester noted that amsoil was changing manufactures, not sure the effect on that, he kept leaning towards the older filter number for his evo from a previous manufacture for amsoil? WIX seems like a overall decent filter for a daily driver.

Based on his results I think I personally might go toward a purolator pure one, and besides it's also made in the USA, as opposed to WIX made in mexico according to his test? Most people might already have their go to companies, just figured I'd share the test I found.

Been using pureone since they came out.

bobistheiolguy.com has had loads of testing done and the pureone beats almost all out there, including the pricey ones.

BTW, Mobil 1 0w40 is universally accepted as a great oil. Can buy 5 qt jug for 25-26.00 at Wally world.

I guess I'm old fashioned but my filter will always be Motorcraft. Always a firm believer in those stock parts. I've owned mine since 2005 and I have always used Motorcraft oil filters.

If you have the stock oil cooler still in place, a longer than stock filter may not fit due to interference with the steering shaft.

Jeff is correct I added a 3/4 adapter plate for my new oil sending untit and that is about as much room as you are going to get I'm about 1/4 inch from the sterring shaft.
