Another deal maybe

Today I stopped by and looked at a 86 TC I've seen sitting for a while. Talked to the owner and he priced it for $200. It is in all right shape. He said it runs fine and builds boost just fine but 2nd gear is out in the AOD. It went out shortly after the rebuild. I think they didn't adjust the kickdown right and burned out 2nd. He is throwing in another trans on the deal. BTW, the body is in O.K. shape without any major body damage but it does have some rust and I hate runst. The interior is pretty much shot rips and tears everywhere.

Now I am torn because I just bought a turbo with manifold and a long block to rebuild.

Should I go with the plan I had or buy the whole car with electronics for the donor? I was planning on going turbo carb route but if I can use the FI it will be an easier swap.

I'm going to see if the boneyard will refund the money on the longblock and perhaps sell the turbo for what I've got in it to finance a project using the $200 TC engine.

BTW, the turbo I amy be selling is an IHI on and E6 maniford seems to spin fine with no wobbles or wiggles if anyone is interested.

I would go ahead and buy the parts car if it runs, but keep the turbo for now because it sounds like you haven't inspected the one in the car. A turbo can be bad and still build full boost. Did you actually see the car run?

Will hear it run tommorrow. I still think I will get the money back on the long block. Already spoke to a friend and he agrees I can't pass this up. We have worked out a deal that I can use his shop for a swap once a find a donor car and he will take the rear from the car.

id grab it in a heart beat. Chances are the motor isnt super beat since it is an auto and the power was actually rated lower then the sticks. Unless it has super high milage and is missing stuff i wouldnt worry about it. you could probably sell a couple parts and get the money back you spent on it.

Might be a A4ld...haven't really looked into it. I do know it was driven by the guys wife for a number of years. Got a lead on a Pinto for the donor car. Will go ahead and put new rings and bearings in while I have it out and swap out the E6 exhaust manifold after I port it.
