I discovered today that the washer reservoir could be a significant source of front end rattling. It's not very secure at all with just one screw on one end and a tab on the other and I could bounce it all around from underneath with the fender well removed making all sorts of racket. I secured it to the bracket the horn tree uses with 4 zip ties in series and when I tried to move it I hear the noise that's been bothering me for 5 years. A metallic *snap* as the thin sheet metal it's secured to pops in and out slightly. The metal is very then right there behind the battery and it seems the weight of a full reservoir might have stretched the metal just a bit (?). I put a piece of 1" hose between the battery and the metal and now it can't pop in when I hit a bump.
I also discovered my emergency brake was not as tightly adjusted as it could have been and was smacking around down there for sure. I screwed the adjuster nut a good 1/2" tighter to take up all the cable slack and then bent the metal spring tab so it holds it up there good against the rubber sheet.
I'm doing some other things so I can't test drive it yet but I'm hopeful!
