another cam question...

has anyone seen this site before talking about using 95+ followers with an older Ranger Roller, it gives extra lift? Just have to machine the newer followers to fit the older lifters. Seems like a good upgrade to the RR. Also, what is the consensus on a good cam for a 88 TC with stinger exhaust? BoPort does not seem to be around anymore

Thanks

Many people are using Schneider cams these days. I would give them a call and talk about your needs.

I don't believe the theory and information on that site about the Ranger followers is true. Also, the newer, stamped steel followers are meant for narrower valve stems. I think it would be a waste of money to machine parts and try to make it work based on the information on that site.

Anyone tried this one from Esslinger? I know the 2277 is supposed to be a good one, this is a little milder

What is the goal with car? HP goal and fun cruiser, auto x, street strip, etc.
Cam needs to be a decent match with other mods (head/intake porting, turbo, trans type, rear gearing, etc.).

I;m new here and waking up an old thread because I'm curious about the cam info here as well. I can easily do all the work outlined in the link from the first post but does anyone know if it actually works?

I may end up finding some junk yard parts ans trying.

I was the original poster on this and after some more research, the info on the site is bogus. Meaning, the rockers have the same ratio, and you would just be wasting time machining the newer rockers to fit. I suppose you could grab a set of the new rockers and machine them, install in a head with a Ranger Roller cam measure the lift, then re check the lift with a set of the older rockers. I ended up going with a BoPort 1.5 cam. His cams are HIGHLY regarded over on turboford. I installed it in a good crack free turbo head that I ported and had big valves installed. I actually just finished setting it up and is now ready to go on the car along with my PIMPx system.

Thanks for the information. If I stumble across the parts in a junk yard or something super cheap I might try it but it doesn't sound like it's worth putting too much time or money into.

Kuch Out of curiosity, do you have the specs on that 1.5 cam?

Yeah, I've noticed they don't share any of their cam profiles. On one hand I understand why but on the other hand(as the customer) I think it should be shared.

yeah, he keeps his trade craft unpublished, but you can request a cam card from him if you order one. As he recommends to install them straight up anyway, there is not in the way of degreeing to be done.
