The Bird hydroplaned on the wife while she was getting off of interstate. She is OK but I believe the Bird will be going into retirement.....

It doesn't look like there was enough water on the roads to hydroplane. She was probably out street racing. LOL. Glad to hear your wife well, and for the car, maybe it can be fixed. Looks superficial from the pics.

It happened right after one of those huge quick downpours, it took me an hour to get there. So the weather had changed a good bit by the time I took the picture. I do think there was a hard downshift involved.

The damage is mostly cosmetic (bumber cover, lights, fenders, and the fiberglass) I just have no desire to fix it.

So what are your plans for it? I'm interested if you are going to sell it. I probably have all the parts to fix it.

Glad the wife is OK. That IS the most important thing.

As far as the bird, Given how it came to rest, I would take a VERY close look at the upper frame rails, paying close attention to the dimples in the edge. If they are unbent, then you should be able to just reassemble...

I would fix it also. I think I may have the parts to fix her. Like Vinnie, too bad it's so far away.

It looks better in the pictures than in person, it also has 187,000 miles on it. This is the problem with having too many of them. I have another TC with all the options except leather and sun roof, and it has just been sitting. I would much rather put the TLC into a loaded lower mileage car, than a wrecked car.
