Another alternator question

I measured the voltage when I fixed the original wire a few days ago. Just over 14v at idle and at about 2500. The alt is working to some degree as the lights do brighten up with the revs, but obviosly not enough output. The battery is relitively new, and when I shut the car off and tried to start it right back up, no dice. After sitting about 45 mins, fired right up. It's all good if I don't have anything on, but as soon as the a/c or lights are on or (the worst) both at the same time, problems come up pretty quickly. Being it was about 100* today and about 90* tonight, (and dark lol) I need to get this done quick. or cook. I really thought that bigger wire might do something. Guess not. Well, don't know 'til you try. And yes Bob, both wires still hot as hell.

I know you say the battery is relatively new, but you should have it checked at Auto Zone, NAPA, or someplace. I'm thinking you might have a bad cell in the battery.

Check the battery cable between the starter relay and battery. Take all the wires off the starter relay and clean the terminals. Check the negative battery cable for a good ground to the engine and the body. Make sure the battery cable terminals and the posts on the battery are clean and really making good contact. Many times when you measure the alternator output across the battery cable terminals you get a good voltage reading but the battery is not being charged properly. Measure voltage across the battery posts
