Another “what is this?” question

Firewall drain?

Anyone know what hole this is? It appears to be a drain or something for the firewall? I was looping the connections for the heater core and accidentally removed one of the copper tubes and coolant started to flow out of this hole. Not much but I want to make sure it’s not something critical. Thanks

I hate to tell you this, but it looks like you have a heater core leak. That is the AC condensate drain. Only pure clear water should come out of there when the AC is running, and then it should just dribble out, even on a humid day.

Looks to me like antifreeze in there. Only source, assuming you didnt spray the engine with high pressure antifreeze, is a heater core leak.

Thank you for info! I’m not worried because the AC has been removed and I am bypassing the heater core. I think there was some residual coolant when I accidentally pulled the cooper tube out of the firewall. I just wanted to make sure that this wasn’t a critical coolant return or supply of some sort.

Since we’re on the topic, could someone explain the route of coolant flow throughout the engine?
