American Muscle 17x9 rims

I've been searching through the forums and have found some information but I'm still not 100% sure. I'd like to put a set of these on my 88 TC once I'm done painting it:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/17x9-2003-...black.html

17x9 black cobra style rims; Specs: offset = +18, and bolt pattern is 4x4.25. From what I've gathered, I'm sure that these will fit with a stock suspension set-up depending on how wide of a tire I go with. My question is will these rims limit my options for upgrading my suspension later on? Eventually, I'd like to throw a customized coilover setup on the car (that I've seen from other forums members) using mustang parts, etc. Thanks for the help

you will have to lose the quad shocks out back, and may encounter some bump-rub up front while turning. any lowering at all will greatly increase both of these. 17s work ok on TCs, but usually at factory height.

I have 17x9 in front with 255/40's and 17x10 in back with 275/40's with no rubbing and the car is lowered almost 2". Some of us seem to have rubbing issues and some of us don't from what I hear......but with the 18's you may stand a better chance with issues
88 turbocoupe, gillis valve, k&n, short throw shifter,3" exhaust with magnaflows,Garrett(turbonetics) T3,AFPR,18lbs boost for now.....

Yeah, I think some people have issues where others don't. My plan is to do a front coilover set up using all MM parts including their mustang control arms. For the rear suspension; I'm going to use MM lower control arms for the TC with mustang torque arm springs. I'll lose the quad shocks if I have to but I think I may be alright with fitment. I would just do 17x8's on the front but the rims I want are only made in 17x9's

Those are the exact wheels I have on my '86, with 245/45-17's on all of them. There's plenty of room in the rear without losing the quads. The front is tight, though. Between the tire and the factory strut, there's maybe a .25" gap. My car is lowered and there was a little rubbing on the wheel arch, but I just had to fold up one of the tabs that the splash guard attaches to in order to fix that. No big deal.

Dam those look good on the TC, your car looks awesome btw. I'm still on the fence because I don't know how the coilovers will change the clearance. Maybe I'll go with a 17x8 on front with less back spacing than the stock snowflakes; which means a different rim choice but oh well. Random question but is that the fair grounds at Carlisle?? Hah

Yes it is at Carlisle. I am determined to get the car back there this year!

I don't have any experience with coilovers, but if they are even a little larger in diameter than a stock strut, you'd have issues. Here's a photo of the clearance I have. It's closer to .125" between the lip of the rim and the strut body.

Do you have any straight on pictures of the car with those wheels? What is the “poke” like in the front?
