I have a hard time believing you guys stick with the stock Mass Air Meter after modifying these cars. I can't see it flowing enough air to be much good over about 400hp. What are you guys using for alternative Mass Air Meters, and how are you using them?

and the are not accurate over 250ish flywheel hp... hence why everyone cranks the fuel pressure to try to competsate...
I remember reading on TF years ago about the T3 turbo at 19psi on a totally stock 2.3T engine out flowed the ability of the VAM...
That is why modding a 2.3T is cheap to start...but if you want to make bigger power reliably....it starts costing $$.

Wow so they aren't much good at all. So what's the alternative? Are there ways of putting a mass air meter on these that flow more? If the stock meter only flows 250hp we've already out flowed its capacity. I'll be ordering a megasquirt ecu so I'd assume anything is possible. Are you guys running more HP running speed density or what?

You can run some type of Quarterhorse or Moates stuff and run a MAF setup but most people (me included) just go to speed density. Much simpler, for me anyway.

If you are going to a megasquirt you will be dumping the VAM and wont need a MAS. Many people are running the stinger pimp system.
I'm lazy, so I am having a speed shop install the MAS and he will be tuning with a tweecer. He says my car will run great when he is done, so we will see.

The instructions for the PiMP are as follows: :read:
"Remove factory air meter/airbox assembly (VAM) and install a cone filter in its place." :happydance:

What's the pimp? Is the Pimp what is used with the megasquirt?
