alignment question

The shop just aligned my car with +.10* left and -.90* right. That seemed odd, but I found a good article on tirerack that said most cars are given negative camber on the right, positive on the left, to compensate for road crown. But then I looked at the previous receipt from a year ago and they set camber at -.30* and -.60*.

Neither of these are within spec..what gives? My car is lowered about 1".

I have both sides at a neutral camber. It keeps the tire flat on the ground and helps prevent the outside tire wear. My car is lowered about 1"

Matt,

If you want your car to handle decent and not have any pull one way or another, have the shop align it to -.5 +-.1 degree for both sides.

I agree with Keith, -.5 on the camber. It won't were tires, and will hug the road on turns much better. I did an alignment on an 92 Mustang GT the other day and the spec was -.5 camber, and if I remember correctly, toe was set toed out. Same Fox body platform, did they learn something later on, about he fox body front suspension?

I'll have them set it at -.5 on both. It was -.3 on both and now I can definately tell the difference and I don't like it.
Thanks

Actually, Ford did revise the alignment specs on the TC. It originally called for +.5-+1 degree camber. They later called for -.5 degrees camber. It makes the car handle much better and the tire wear was improved. Be careful with toe out on a rear wheel drive car. The TC is stable with slight toe in. Toe out will make it turn in much quicker if you are autocrossing it, however, it leads to the car darting all over the place when driving on the street. Toe out = unstable, toe in = stable.

Matt,

Are you taking your car to a Les Schwab tire store? If so, you should plan on 3-4 trips there to get it right.

Almost... It's a firestone. Back when I bought the car in 2001 they had a special on their lifetime alignment for $75. I've gotten my money's worth for sure. I just need to pay more attention to the papers before I leave.
