Okay... I'm in the market for a new air filter. What is the stock price for a filter for my 87 TC. What is a price for a non stocker that I can just put in, and what do you recommend I get? I've heard K&N Cone's or something. How hard are they to put in, how good are they, how expensive are they? Also are their any other alternatives.

Thanks.

Just bought and installed a K&N RE-0930 cone filter. Bought it from 4filters.com and had it shipped for 44.96 total.

Do NOT go with imitations. I heard that the K&N's made a difference, but I was floored with just how much of a difference this filter made. Our motors come alive with these filters. Total time for the install was about 15 minutes. There is just no way one can express the way your bird will sound spooling up. My wife states it best: "Sounds like a jet".

K&Ns can be cleaned and reoiled and they are guarented (I think) for 1000K miles. They say to clean and reoil them every 50K although I usually don't let it go that long. You can get a recharge kit (oil, ect for about $10 and it should last through several cleanings and reoils. Installation isn't hard and there are many ways to do it. There are some articles in the Technical Articles.

Get a K&N cone, and mount it in front of the core support or in the fenderwell so it wont suck in hot engine air.
