Any recommendations for a air filter that will fit over the stock vam? Doesn’t have to be anything fancy.

I used an K&N RB-0900 because it was a little smaller. It barely fit over but it did go on.

Kuch: does it fit cleanly underneath the VAM/air cleaner mounting bracket?  Or is modification required?

I used AEM 21-2036DK its a non-oiled filter and easy to clean

not really a fan of K&N oiled filters on anything lol

Pulling hot under hood air into the engine isnt the best idea. Put the filter in the fender, in front of the core support. etc.

I basically followed the directions in this link, it works very well, it does take some finagling to get the clamps, hose, elbows, and air filter all together and in the fenderwell, but it does work well. https://turbotbird.com/thread-k-n-front-mounted
