Just the other day my AC system started acting up, the problem comes into play when i start to accelerate. During acceleration the AC will quit blowing out of the dash vents(still blowing out the lower vents) and will not return to the dash vents until i have leveled out at speed. While cruising steady state it seems to be ok but as soon as I depress the accelerator it seems as if the vent close off. Its not an electrical issue since the blower motor never changes tone, and there is no flux in the lights or the amp guage. Also sometimes when im cruising at around 45 and go to use the cruise control to accelerate, you can feel the gas pedal go down and then all of a sudden it will just come back to normal while im stil depressing the button. Its possible the 2 issues are interelated. Im thinking it's a vacumn issue but im not sure where to start. Any help is appreciatted.

Thanks

Manual system I assume, not the EATC?

Sounds like you have a problem with the vacuum coming to the heater controls..When you open the throttle you lose your engine vacuum and apparently the canister is not holding enough to keep it working.. Check your vacuum lines to the vac cannister and to your heater controls.

The canister is in the passenger fender, I believe

Defrost is the default position when there is a fault with the control system (vacuum)

There is also a one way check valve in the line to the vac canister in the fender. Be sure the valve is working correctly.

So i guess im looking for a split or loose vacumn line, and also to verify that the check valve is functional. Do you get to this cannister by removing the inner fender well?

Thanks

The problem is solved. I removed the inner fender liner and found the vacumn line broke. After a quick repair it's back to business as usual. Thanks to everyone that offered help, would have take much longer to locate on my own.

Thanks again.
