My friggin oil line in the truck was leaking, make that spraying, almost didn't make it home last night so I was cursing and swearing for not putting a braided one on before engine went in.
I just swapped it out and it doesn't seem to have a crack afterall!
Flare must have come loose?
Good side, truck is winterized for rust underneath. [Image: wink.gif]
That's fixed anyway.
Next problem; machine shop found a couple cracks in my project head, did I want to procede any further?
Oh ya, alrighty then. [Image: wink.gif]
I'm rethinking having to rely on all turbofords as daily transport.
I will keep one project, that's it.

How big are the cracks? Where are they? In the valve seat?

Exhaust valve seats, right through.
The head looked promising at first till it was tanked and fluxed.

I hardened seats put in mine last fall. Just an option. Do all the math first as it may be cheaper in the long run to just get the Esslinger head now as to having the iron head fixed, ported, and cut for big valves. Also if you decide to go with an iron head. You might want to consider getting the valve guide bosses(spring perches) ground down for stiffer or dual valve springs for later use. One less time of removing the head. Ask me how I know.
