I know you've had ongoing probs with your TC and you're frustrated...if you have the option to buy the stang...I would...transportation IS A MUST!!!I live about an 1 1/2 hr away in ABERDEEN,MD...when possible I could take time and come up and give ya a hand going over the TC and putting together a plan of attack...couldn't do this anytime soon but in the near future could be very possible...or if we could agree to tow it here to me then I could give it a look over when time permits...amd the 83...I WOULD TAKE IT!!! Would get a good home and loving carresses!!!LOL!!! Let me know how I can help!!! PM,EMail,or phone...410-734-4373...

What color is the '83 interior and what shape is it in. Does it still have any of the drivetrain in it? Let me know I might be interested. I know someone with a tow truck who may be willing to haul it out of there.

I'd keep the mustang and get your 88 running right over the winter.

Brian, as much as I'd like to suggest fixing up the TC, I understand how important it is to have a reliable car to get you through each day (which your TC clearly is not and has never been [Image: wink.gif]). I'm fortunate enough to own 4 vehicles at the moment, and have had to rely on them when the TC has been down for a day or two for the occasional repair or upgrade.

If your dad doesn't want to have your TC sitting on the side of the house forever while you decide what to do with it, there's no reason you couldn't sell it and buy another one when / if you choose to and you have the funds to keep it running reliably. As much as you may feel attached to the car you have now, I'm sure there are other, more important priorities that will take precedent over the devotion you feel to your car. The fact that I've never heard you say that your car was running well also indicates that it might be time to move on.

Brian,
As much as I love my TC, if I'd has as many problems with mine as you've had with yours, I would have already sold it or parted it out. And I've been following your posts long enough to read BJL fluently! [Image: biggrin.gif] Sometimes a car is just a lemon and no matter what you do, it'll never run right. Other times, they'll run and run and you can't kill 'em with an axe.

Sounds like your brother's 'Stang is serving you well. It's a close enough cousin to the TC that you already know how to work on it. Stang parts are relatively cheap and plentiful. And you do NEED reliable transportation. If I were you, I would sell the TC or part it out, buy the 'Stang off my brother for now, save my money and look for a deal on a better TC. Just my $0.02.

As others have stated, #1 priority is to have reliable daily transportation.

Right now, it looks like your bird cannot quickly be fixed and depended on for daily transport. So see if you can buy the stang if it is getting you around for now.

Then you have to decide whether you have the time and money to get the bird running right. With another car to drive, you can take your time on any repairs, and only do stuff as you can afford it.

When I was 19, I had a '74 Road Runner and of course I was racing and modifying it. Ran the pan dry on the highway and lost the motor. I spent 6 months without a car while rebuilding the engine. I learned that bumming rides and riding the bus SUCKS.

Brian,

Glad to hear you are gonna keep the TC. Remember, its your 1st car & all the work you did on the body & paint in school. I agree with all the folks about the transportation thing, but its very hard to find your 1st car after you've sold it.... SO DON"T SELL HER.

So my advice to you is keep it & use the Mustang as a daily driver. Its great that your brother will let you use it till you got her fixed. I would start fixing the TC from the bottom up, making sure the motor is solid from the bottom end to the top. At this stage of the game, you only want to do this once, so make sure all is right in the motor. If you need the bottom end rebuilt, rebuild it. If you need a new head, get one or call me. If you have too many cars in the yard & too many parts, sell some of them to fund the repairs. Hell maybe I'll buy one as a parts car.

I'm only about 40 minutes away, so if you need help & I can get away from the wife, kids, & my own project car, I'll be there. Also, I need to get a few parts so I need to hook up with you to help fianace your work ! [Image: biggrin.gif]
