Where do I start...I tried it yesterday and failed. I read the guide multiple times last night. The only thing I changed from yesterday was changing the ground from my wideband to the battery. Because I was questioning my readings. I had the v 1.2 pimp and there is a update from this but I was about to change it until my car was running. Its very important to set timing to stock 10 btdc I think that may have been an issue but maybe not. I was at 8 btdc. Make sure you set the wideband voltage correctly..my exact gauge (aem uego 30-4100) wasn't in the dropdown so I had to add it in manually. To be honest the trickiest part is getting the fan control right. My small 2ndary fan is staying on so I just unplugged it. My main fan is kicking on at 195 degrees as it should.

It took me a while to realize that I needed more fuel in the table's on the VE Fuel table to get it to idle right. I also needed to turn up the idle screw a bit because I dont think PIMP V 1.2 controls the IAC. My base tune I got was enough to maybe drive it around town but after I got to idle on its own I set it up for Auto Tune. I noticed a major improvement in drive-ability once the Auto Tune started working it's magic. You can see the cell's and numbers changing to adjust to a good afr. I cant explain how or why it worked but it worked. At cruise its sitting pretty at like 14.7ish, at idle its like 13.6-13.9, under boost its around 11.5-12 but I gotta double check on that. I got my car currently set for 18-19 psi which might be a much on my IHI.

I got alot of learning to do but I had my car driveable in under an hour. I was impressed on how much better it drives compared to stock. Seems like my car was running on the lean side with the stock LA3. It was running hot almost 210 sometimes and I wanna say it may have been causing a bit of pinging. Now it runs on the cooler side and I dont hear pinging but I need to get tail pipes to confirm because I cant hear it if its happening. Sucks my car doesnt have jack for mods just exhaust, walbro 255, and a cone filter. But at least down the road as mods go on I can tune for it.

Its going good so far gonna try messing with it tomorrow.

This is really good to hear! My plan is to get Pimp after I get the race car up and running with a LA3. I have no tuning experience so hearing how user friendly it is makes the choice
seem like the right one for me. I don't want to have to rely on other people to get my car running.

jeff, you'll like it.

ian, good work! you have a great starting point BECAUSE you have a mostly stock combo. it is easier to start with what you have and tune as you go.

everytime i drive mine i'm datalogging and autotuning, then reviewing datalogs in the evening to make sure everything looks good. it's pretty fun. Smile

I think the PiMP install was the best single mod I have done to date. The engine never ran like it does now. The idle is terrific, smooth as can be, with no hiccup.
Ian, I sent you the fan settings for v1.2. It took me a while to figure them out, so this will save you the pain

I would think the PiMP does control the IAC. You don't have idle speed control in the menu's somewhere?

i was told by stinger on my pimp v 1.2 that it wont control the IAC and that I should adjust with the screw. To be honest with you so far its been idling better than it ever has lol.

Dont know but maybe v 1.1..there should be a label on the actual PIMP itself on the grey plastic.

i bought a 87 tc 2 years ago. it has just about everything done to it. it has an simple digital standalone computer out of canada. i want to just hop in my car and drive it. sounds like the pimp might be the way to go. how complicated is the set up menu?. just looking for something user friendly that i don't have to mess with if i don't want to. thanks
