It allows you to vary the cam timing so you can (somewhat) adjust the power curve within the rpm range. No it's not going to give a big cam sound to a stock cam. I use one to advance (4*) the A237 I run to bring peak power and torque down to a lower rpm. You can't do it with a stock cam pully because each tooth represents around 9*. Most cams don't take that much advance or retard to be optimized.

Several places market them and there are a couple types. The one that cam from Ford Motorsports has different keyways milled in it, so you have to take it (and the dreaded cam belt) off to change the setting. Most others are two piece and you just loosen some bolts and turn the cam to adjust the timing then tighten the bolts. Once you get the cam where you want it you don't need to adjust it again. Race Enginering makes as good a one as any of them. Timy Avenger also sells a two piece adjustable.

I have a Fidanza one for my Turbo Notch project. It is a very nice piece and not horribly expensive. You can see pics at http://community.webshots.com/album/52439257XRMjGC

------------------
87 TC 5-speed Black, loaded. 17psi, G3 alternator, KB subs, Grant steering wheel, custom greasable swaybar bushings, K&N. Soon to have KB Trackit Axle brackets, Maximum Motorsports lower control arms, T-3, Saab intercooler, ranger roller cam Gen1 DSM BOV and rebuilt front suspension.

Unless you're the lead dog, the view never changes.

I got it through Marcor in Hamilton Ontario. they are the distributor for Fidanza in my area. I get them at 10% above cost at work. I'll have to check what the cost was when I get to work on Monday.

It's quite possible that Tiny Avenger buys them from Fidanza. The Fidanza gears are some of the nicer quality ones I've seen for the 2.3L

I can get those gears for $125 CND plus shipping. That's about $80 US plus shipping.
