So an older man that works with me is a well known mechanic in my town. In fact he owned his own shop for years. Well see, this man was telling me earlier that if you put 2 oz of acetone per 10 gallons of gas in your gas tank, you'll increase your MPG by 25%.
I know, I don't believe it either. He says he read it in a well known farming magazine, I forgot the name. Also, he's had friends attest to it.
So I guess I'm just wondering if you guys had heard of this. The only way I can see it helping--if at all--is by cleaning deposits out of the fuel system. Aren't injector cleaners mostly acetone anyway?
On a side note... his buddy that accomplished said results with this method mentioned that fingernail polish remover used to be a $1 at WalMart. Since he, and WalMart evidently, had discovered the potential of this mostly acetone product, the price has doubled to $2. COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT! :p
