Do you have a set of AC manifold gauges comparable with R-12? If you dont, get or borrow a set. Once you get the gauges we can help you.

Correction: I meant COMPATABLE with R-12.

Do you know if anyone had converted the system tp R134a sometime in the past?

If it hasn't been converted to R134a now would be a good time. R12 is tough to find sometimes and expensive.

You can get conversion kits at your local parts store. There isn't much to it, the ports and orifice tube.

The system needs to be evacuated to a very low pressure before charging it with R12 or R134a. Always a good idea to replace the orifice tube and accumulator / dryer whenever the system is opened up for a while or if the system is currently completely empty and has been empty for a while.

Are you sure you dont have an electrical issue such as a failed / disconnected CCPS (cycling clutch pressure switch), clutch coil open circuit, clutch relay in the IRCM failure, etc, or a mechanical issue such as too large a clutch gap etc.
