since my abs light has been on for about a month, i decided to trouble shoot the system and see what codes i could get. first problem, the harness on my car is located behind the passenger side trunk tray? and was not easy to connect with the code reader (extremely short lead). the problem i am having is with reading the codes themselves. when i plug in the code reader and turn the key on, a 23 blinks on the dash anit-lock brake light. when i go to the trunk, i place the code reader in the test position i get code 34 and nothing else. i put the code reader back into the hold position and then again into the test position. this time i get code 78. after that, i was unable to get any additional codes. i did everything over again and got the same exact problem. since any code in the 20s needs to be addressed first, where is the selenoid valve block assembly and am i on the right track.

have you checked your brake fluid level? mine has been coming on and off for about a month, everytime the fluid is barley low enough notice, but enough to set off the sensor.

The solenoid valve block is mounted on the front of the mastercylinder, faces the passenger side and has a 7 pin connector going to it. The manual says there are no user servicable parts inside.

Be sure to check the wiring to it, make sure it is plugged in securely and everything is in good shape. I had an ABS light because the main valve wiring (the 2-pin connector on the ABS module) was REALLY short, to the point that it the tension on the plug in the socket would make it lose contact sometimes. I spliced in some more wire and haven't had the problem since.

Check the plug on the front of the unit. If there's a bad connection it'll trigger the light.

sorry, i didn't realize my reply sounded so stupid. i don't know how many people have come into my shop and were willing to pay or insisting on paying up to $1500 in abs work when all it was was low fluid. i'm sure in your case it's fine, i just thought it may save you a headache by being that simple. good luck! trbocoup, thank you for your reply, and it did not sound stupid. it was actually the first thing i checked hoping it would be that easy. i checked the resistance on the seven pin connector on the valve block, which was way off on the negative side, and the resistance on the two pin connector on the front of the master cylinder, which was about 8 ohms. does it sound like the valve block is bad and should be replaced or maybe a in-line fuse for the anti-lock system (somewhere in the engine bay) has blown? any thoughts.
