First, check fluid level in the reservoir. There is a specific procedure for doing this, as explained here: http://www.turbotbird.com/techinfo/TEVES...%20TCs.htm

Next thing I would do is replace the relay. I had the same symptoms but let it go until it got out of hand. When the relay fails, so do your brakes. Be careful.

If the pump relay becomes intermittant and doesnt pressurize the system, both the yellow ABS and red BRAKE lights will come on. If just the yellow ABS light comes on, the problem is not the pump relay.

Fair enough. Well, I can't speculate like you can, just relating my experience. Same symptoms, failed relay.

i finally got my hands on a 87 t-bird about a month ago...the guy i bought it from fried the altenator and let the car sit for about a year...i put the new altenator in but i am waiting for a nice day to change the oil and get her running...she's up for inspection and my (yellow ABS)& (red brake) lights are on....the guy was very honest with me about everything else and he told me no lights were on or nothing..do you think the lights are on because the car hasnt been started in so long...maybe when i start driving her she'l build up pressure and the lights will turn off???...if not where is the relay located???

DO not just replace the relay for the hell of it. throwing parts at the car can get expensive real quick. Go to the link in my earlier post. Follow the diagnostic routene, and it will lead you to the problem.

The yellow light stays on if the ABS module detects a problem with the ABS system during self check which takes place when the ignition is turned on. The red light stays on if the brake fluid level is low, or the hydraulic pump can't pressurize the system, or your E brake is on.
