Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll try changing the TFI and PIP. I don't remember if you need to pull the distributor to change the PIP. Can you tell me?

Also, I'll get another Motorcraft TFI from Rock Auto like I did with the last one, but when I got mine last time, I wasn't an exact match for the stock one I was removing. Also, it didn't fit the distributor as well as the the original. You didn't notice the same thing when you changed yours?

You have to pull the dist to do a PIP. See article in the Tech Articles. Be sue to use the grease between the TFI and the dist mounting surface

Yea, you gotta pull the distributor out, and pull the drive gear off it's shaft before you can remove the PIP. Once you get in there you will see, it's pretty easy to replace. My MC TFI was exactly the same as the original, fit the dizzy the same as well.
