The front of the a/c compresser came off, not the whole pulley just the front piece.
The pulley is spinnig but I can now see the end of the shaft and i isn't spinning. Anybody have in any ideas?

Sounds like the clutch assy came off.

thats strange..strange indeed. i would recommend replacing the compressor, because if the assembly came off, it may have been caused by heat or a bad bearing. its just as easy to change it all and know for sure. btw you can use the ford fuel line disconnect to get the lines off the compressor.

The clutch should require a puller to remove. Is the bolt missing? But I agree, I think you clutch came apart.

Yeah i think its is the clutch that came off. The bolt is missing. Can I get a new compresor from the auto parts store?

Yes you can, but be prepared to spend a few bucks 'cause they are not cheap. & while you are doing that you should convert to R134a if you have't done it already.

The same thing happened to me way back when with my 85 XR7. All I did was install a new clutch assembly....

88 Silver T/C, original owner, 256,000 miles.
Loaded with everything except leather & auto trans.
K&N, Gillis, SVO roller #1, big SS valves, ported intake, head, & exhaust.
Bottom end & turbo original/untouched.
Polyurethane bushings throughout, Goodyear GT-HR 235/55R16's.
Former owner of 88 Silver T/C, loaded (except leather & A/T), original owner, 294,815 miles!!!
K&N, Gillis(18 psi), SVO roller #1, big SS valves, ported intake, head, & exhaust.
Short block & turbo original/untouched, spec-II/III clutch combo.
Polyurethane bushings throughout, Goodyear GT-HR 235/55R16
