88 TC tuneup

This is my first time posting on here. I bought an 88 TC about 2 weeks ago and it needs some minor odds and ends. As far as I know its bone stock, and being a noob to these cars I wanted to hear some of your opinions. I'm going to be buying new plugs, wires, o2 sensor (probably a wideband), changing all the fluids and various other little parts. I was wondering if anyone has pimped a stock TC, and how much it made a difference. Also if there are any other cheap upgrades that will help performance. I know about stingers products, but don't want to go that route just yet. I did get another engine with the car, so I can have that rebuild into a nasty engine later on
Thanks, Shawn

Welcome to the Board!

Use Motorcraft wires and plugs for a bone stock engine. Same goes for the cap & rotor. Getting it running good is the first consideration, then you can start with some minor upgrades. As for a PiMP with a stock or very mild mod motor, it will make a world of difference, like night & day. But now is a good time to get used to everything on the stock engine first.
Also, let the Suffolk County Police and Troop L guys admire the car for a while before they have to stop you!

Welcome.
You can find part numbers for the plugs and wires in the Part Number Forum: http://natomessageboard.com/ubbthreads.p...=11&page=1

Here is a link to the basic modification that are needed first, to get the most out of other mods you may want to do later.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to have a nice order in at ford on monday. The biggest pain is going to be changing the rear parking brake cables, or just finding them first.

Buy your Motorcraft tuneup parts from Rockauto, not Ford!! Example: dealer will want $60+ for the plug wires. Rockauto has them for $19. Same for other parts.

Yeap can confirm it does make a decent difference. And I believe its easier to tune a stockish car and slowly mod it and re tune as go. Vs tuning a beast that never ran right on the stock ECU.
