88 TC manuals available

Haven't been on here for some time, but I just found a source for 88 TC manuals. I just received a full set that I ordered from John Troxel at Troxel's Auto Literature. These are original Ford shop manuals, and cover T-Bird, Cougar, Mustang, Mark VII, etc. The complete set cost me $159 shipped. John told me he has 3 sets left. John has a huge collection of auto manuals, so I am sure he has them available for all years of the TC.

Thanks for the information, if I didn't already have mine, I'd be happy to get them. I can tell you that these are very handy to have, and help a great deal with these cars.

I know this post is a few years old I figured I'd comment here rather than starting a new topic
I've seen manuals on eBay every time I've looked but I've always wondered if what I'm seeing is what I need. I don't know what the shop manuals look like, if anyone has a complete set could they snap pictures of the covers so people like myself know what we're looking for?
This is the one I see most often, though this particular sale is of a cd rom with a pdf on it I think

IMO, the only manuals you really need are the EVTM (Electrical / Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) that has wiring diagrams, vacuum diagrams, etc. The other must have is the PCED (Powertrain Control / Emissions Diagnosis Troubleshooting Manual) that has the PCM codes and their explanations and step by step code troubleshooting information as well as connector pinouts, etc. Those are the 2 most useful manuals.

The Chassis / Electrical manual occasionally comes in handy for troubleshooting chassis / body electrical issues like power windows etc . The body / chassis manual isnt that helpful as the TC chassis is like any other car on the road and I personally dont need info on how to replace ball joints, tie rod ends, replace the starter, remove the cluster, etc as I have done this kind of stuff so many times on so many different cars it is second nature to me. While I have this manual I havent looked at it in years. There is also a supplement manual for the Tbird and Lincoln LSC that has valuable troubleshooting info on the Teves II ABS, the PRC and several other systems unique to the TC and LSC.

To add to what Jeff said, it isn't apparent to me that what you posted, Rob H, contains to know exactly what you'd get. The 1987 and 1988 shop repair manuals came in several different books. Here's an example on eBay for the 1987:

However, the books shown above don't include the books that Jeff recommended as they are additional and separate. If I recall correctly, the PCED Jeff references was its own large book because it covered both Ford cars and Trucks and was not part of the Fox specific books linked above. It's largely used for EEC trouble code troubleshooting - which a lot of that information is online and the TC specifics are on my website.

Note there is actually another wiring diagram/schematic from Ford that comes in a really large binder with folding pages. I have the big binder with folding pages but and never use it as the one Jeff references is the one frequently used for wiring issues.

Ok thanks guys, that will give me a bit of a better idea of what I would be looking for. I was hoping that one or more of these manuals might be a massive upgrade from the Chilton/Haynes manuals, which are pretty sparse at best.
Would a guy like me who knows so little about car repair in general benefit massively from having those other books? I am good at reading and understanding and applying what I read into practice. Better diagrams and instructions would be a huge help to me, but I don't know if that is what these books offer or not.

Anything a 5 year old kid scribbled on a piece of scrap paper would be an improvement over the Haynes or Chiltons manuals.

I own that CD and I HIGHLY recommend it! I uploaded the file to Dropbox, now I can fire up the iPad and search through it. It’s fully searchable—every “hit” of the word you request, and is a lot faster than the actual manuals, if you don’t know exactly where to find stuff.

Many times I’ll use it to locate what I am looking for, then look it up in the actual manual.

One of the best things about the CD is that it is for a 1988 Turbo Coupe, so its content has been updated since the 1987 manuals.

It does NOT include the EVTM manual, so be warned.

You know I was actually thinking about getting the CD version and doing the exact same thing. In my case having a daughter that goes through a tablet every few years or so I have older ones that would work just fine. Thought about making it more or less a dedicated repair manual tablet.
