Hello Everyone,
New member here from Nevada, glad I found this forum. I've had a 87 Turbo Coupe stored back in the shop for 8 years.
We had a hard start, and a fuel starvation problem and one radiator fan would not energize. So I parked it as I didn't have time to troubleshoot.
Anyway, I needed the room back, so we put it up on the rack yesterday. My son found the "Fuel Pump Diagnostics for the Turbo Coupe" here. Thanks to andrewjs18! Great article BTW.
We ran the electrical tests, everything was good and and we could hear the pump running in the tank. But not much more than a trickle of fuel at the filter.
We decided to pull the tank as the old gas needed changing anyway. AS you can see in the pict the fuel hose in the tank looked like it exploded. We bought the car new and at that time they had a fuel additive called MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) and I suspect that's what damaged the hose. It might be a good idea to just put in a new pump while it's out.. ??
Thanks for the forum!
